The development and design of the CS-336 was intended to be a purposeful marriage between an ES-335 and a Les Paul Standard. The goal was to combine the best features of an archtop, semi-hollow and solidbody electric guitar in a meaningful way. "The best of both worlds," so to speak. We are pleased to offer you here a specimen of this special guitar with its very own specs: beautiful figured maple top with a captivating sunburst in Ice Tea Flame, hollow mahogany body with a solid center block carved from the back and sides, one-piece mahogany neck with the extremely comfortable Slim-C neck profile and a dark, sleek rosewood fingerboard. But the most remarkable thing about the CS-336 is, of course, its incomparable sound, which results from the combination of archtop, semi-hollow and solidbody concept. And the installed '57 Classic pickups fit perfectly with the overall concept of the Gibson CS-336.
The guitar is extremely resonant with a warm acoustic timbre, yet brilliant and with the necessary bite and aggressiveness you'd expect from a really good Jazz, Blues and Rock guitar. It is in excellent condition, with virtually no signs of play or wear. The original tuners were swapped for locking Grover tuners but the guitar is otherwise all original. Original Kluson tuners included.
The guitar weighs in at about 7.5 lbs and is a joy to play. Well balanced, slim & ergonomic, and a comfortable slim taper neck. Other features include:
